Many Bat Colonies have become extinct around the world,.. and in the united states alone, we have a 40% decline in the bat population and rising fast. This is a very scary situation my friends, female bats might, if they get lucky each year, only have one (1) cute little pup during winter, and that's it! This is why learning to be bat smart is so critical, without bats, the night pollinators of the earth, we would lose many fruits, nuts, vegtables & Tequila, YUM! Get Bat Smart with The RockFish, and help save us creatures of the night,... ...ah,... I mean,.. Them,... Bats!,... "DIDUKNOW FACT" - Bats are Not Rodents, they are Mammals like you and me, and much more like you and me than you probably know right now. They have 4 fingers and a thumb, arms, legs and feet just like humans. Recent studies have shown that Bats are directly linked to early primates, so we're essentially relatives. Bats' are exceptionally clean little critters that form colonies and help out each other! Bat mothers will watch over other mothers' babies and feed them while the babies' mothers are out feeding themselves! Bats will band togther, and will risk their lives in order to save one fallen baby bat. Bats are becoming endangered all around the world, entire populations of bats have become extinct since the airing of this Conan O'Brien show in Aug of 2009, due to a fungus called: 'White Nose Syndrome". Why, I even caught "White Nose Syndrome",... at one time in my life right here in Las Vegas several years ago, it was tough to shake, but I did get over it, with the help of good friends, just like you,... please help me in this life or death cause to help save Bats, lets band togather to help save Bats. Scientists do NOT even know how or why "White Nose Syndrome" started in the first place, or even how to treat it and as of this very day, they still do not know much of anything to control it but,... they do believe it was spread by humans into the bat caves. There are precautions you can do right now, at no cost to you to help stop this deadly fungus from rapidly spreading and that is why everyone needs to band tohather, right now, before it's too late. "Please Get Bat Smart" and have a little fun while doing so with me,... The RockFish. If you or anyone you know, enjoys cave exploring please learn to get bat smart now, before it's too late. You must always have a change of clothing before entering caves, and please learn as much as you can before going cave exploring. Bats have many dark myths about them, let me tell you now, 99% are false. Bats are very playful and trainable much like dogs and cats! Bats can live up to 45 plus years. Bats do not carry rabies, but like any mammal, bats are susceptible to rabies, but unlike old wives' tales suggest, bats are not "carriers" of rabies, but they can contract rabies just like any other mammal as in humans. NEVER TOUCH A INJURED BAT OR ANY OTHER WOUNDED ANIMAL FOR THAT MATTER - PLEASE CALL ANIMAL CONTROL - *NOTE: ALL INJURED ANIMALS MAY BITE TO DEFEND THEMSELVES In reality, bats catch rabies far less than any other (earth-bound - 4 legged) domestic or wild animals; in fact, less than half of 1% of all bats (bats are 25% of all mammals on earth) contract rabies and even that's because they usually have been wounded, injured, grounded or just old. People should be more afraid of contracting rabies from domesticated dogs, because around the world, humans contract rabies 40% of the time from dogs. The Movies love to have a villain, and the mythological image of BATS as creatures of the night, make it easy for the Movies to make them the bad guys, but sadly alot of what you think you know about bats is just not true.
